Role Summary

The ESG Manager is responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations and standards. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive ESG strategies and programs that align with both regulatory requirements and the company’s sustainability goals. The ESG Manager will analyse data, track performance, and report on ESG initiatives to management and assist clients.

The ideal candidate will stay informed on global ESG trends, regulations, and best practices, and will work collaboratively across departments to integrate ESG principles into broader business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to all applicable ESG regulations and standards.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement ESG strategies and programs that align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Risk Management: Create and manage plans to mitigate ESG risks and environmental impacts.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present ESG progress and performance reports to management, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse ESG data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Manage and address stakeholder concerns and communications regarding ESG issues.
  • Documentation: Draft legal and contractual documents related to ESG activities and ensure accurate documentation of ESG initiatives.
  • Program Execution: Monitor and ensure timely execution of ESG initiatives and commitments.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to assess ESG factors affecting business operations.
  • Leadership and Development: Lead ESG strategy development for clients, support sustainability programs, and contribute to thought leadership and business development in the ESG domain.
  • Conduct impact assessments on environmental and social aspects for clients across various sectors.
  • Analyse client data, targets, roadmaps, and solutions to identify trends and projections that support decision-making and strategy for the leadership team.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in sustainability or ESG is advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in ESG consulting or a related field, with a proven track record in project management and team leadership. Experience should include environmental, sustainable development, engineering, energy, or related sectors with a focus on ESG, climate impact, GHG emissions, and operational management.
  • Strategic & Operational Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in strategy and operational efficiency. Experience with Big 4 consulting firms is highly desirable.
  • Implementation Skills: Experience in implementing new methodologies or technologies, driving sustainable change, and developing solutions to achieve ESG aims, including emissions reduction.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global ESG trends, frameworks, standards, and regulatory environments.
  • A collaborative team player and strategic thinker, capable of generating ideas and driving initiatives that advance clients’ ESG objectives.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Reporting Standards: Proficiency with sustainability reporting standards (such as GRI, TCFD, SASB, IR, WEF-IBC) and ESG rating methodologies, indices, and agencies (such as S&P, MSCI, Refinitiv, CDP, Sustainalytics).
  • Experience Mix: A rich combination of corporate and consulting experience is preferred. Ability to consistently uphold brand and style guidelines, and communicate these standards to others internally.
